Dr. Lina Shea

Dr. Lina Shea received her Ph.D. in Global Change Ecology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2007, where her work focused on the effects of global climate change on terrestrial ecosystems. She then worked as a research scientist at the University of Alaska Anchorage, focusing on arctic ecology and the response of tundra ecosystems to climate change. At Zender, Lina has provided technical assistance to rural Alaska communities as needed in a variety of environmental health areas, including solid and hazardous waste management, water and air quality, environmental education and outreach, grant writing, and community involvement. Since 2019, Lina has been working with the National Tribal Toxics Council in supporting their efforts to understand tribal exposures to toxic chemicals, if and how tribal risks differ from those of the general population, and to ensure that tribal risks are evaluated and addressed in formal risk assessment and management efforts under the Toxic Substances Control Act.
