Evelyn Agnus

Rural Environmental Program Specialist Level and GIS & Data Management Specialist

Evelyn Agnus is a proud Yupik tribal member of Chefornak, Alaska. She grew up in Nightmute with summers in Umkumiut and winters in Chefornak.  She graduated from Mt. Edgecumbe High School in Sitka and started her career in the environmental field in 2005 with Umkumiut and Nightmute tribe as an IGAP Environmental Director and Technician. She later received her Associate degree in Business and Technology from Alaska Career College, and Bachelor’s degree with high honors in Native Environmental Science ICO – Managing Hazardous Waste in Rural Alaska from Northwest Indian College (NWIC) at Lummi Native in Bellingham, Washington. The study was place based, experiential, and culturally grounded, providing a holistic training in Native Environmental Science, both through Indigenous Research and content knowledge. Evelyn works as a Rural Environmental Program Specialist and GIS & Data Management Specialist at Zender Environmental. She has expertise on solid waste management, backhaul, GAP management,  grant writing and management, GIS specialist mapping and data management, and is bilingual in Yupik and English. Evelyn has worked with many rural tribes in Alaska and enjoys her work assisting communities in need to protect the environment. In her spare time, Evelyn enjoys playing video games, going camping, spending time with family, and travel.
