Jasmine Tigiqruaq Perea has an Associate of Applied Science degree from North Country Community College and received her bachelor’s degree in environmental public health from Alaska Pacific University. During Jasmine’s undergraduate program, she developed a deep passion for environmental public health and anaerobic digestion technologies. Jasmine’s undergraduate and current research tests the applicability of a biogas system in Alaska. She has been running the digester for about two years where the input is dog waste, and the output runs a gas stove and produces biofertilizer. Jasmine will continue her research at The University of Kansas in the environmental and water resource science graduate program. She plans to test the applicability of psychrophilic microorganisms with bioelectrochemical anaerobic digestion technologies. Jasmine was born and raised in Alaska and is passionate about environmental issues around the state, especially in the areas of wastewater. Jasmine recently started working for Dr. Zender and Simone at Zender Environmental Health and Research Group and is excited to be a part of a team that is passionate about the work they do.
